As part of the 18 km Mackays to Peka Peka Expressway (M2PP) north of Wellington, specialised prefabricated reinforcing pile cages were required for the project’s major foundation works.
Our prefabrication expertise delivered complex reinforcing pile cages up to 3 metres in diameter and 35 metres long for the M2PP Expressway.
Some pile cages reached 3 metres in diameter and 35 metres in length, requiring prefabrication in sections to enable transportation and on-site assembly. Complex pile flares added further detailing requirements, incorporating numerous large stirrups of varying sizes.
Careful detailing, specialist fabrication and controlled prefabrication enabled these complex reinforcement assemblies to be delivered ready for efficient integration into the foundation works. The project demonstrates the value of off-site prefabrication and specialist reinforcing expertise in delivering large and technically demanding infrastructure projects.
